On Monday, May 19 the second digital security event called DigiÄKK (DigiRapid), took place in Tähtvere Park. Last year, 10 kindergarten groups participated in digital skills training. This year, that number grew to 15 groups – reaching around 300 children in total!
The event included learning stations where digital skills were passed on through games. The games were carried out by students from the University of Tartu as part of their final year project in the course “Playful Development of Media Literacies”. The students were supervised by Inger Klesment and Maria Murumaa-Mengel.
Although the focus of the event was on the internet and screen-based learning, the event did not use screens for learning. Instead, new knowledge was gained in the open air through age-appropriate games that stimulated discussion and movement and taught children how to be safer online.
